The Therapeutic Powers of Cats!

Great news for cat lovers! You now have a perfectly good excuse to become a crazy cat lady!
Science is stepping in and it's official: Cat purrs are good for you. They have therapeutic healing powers. Cancel your next massage, get rid of your scented candles, and go buy a cat, friends. The time is now!

Often people with mental illness are told to try being around animals, to see if it can help their spirits. Something about the comfort a canine/feline companion can provide can actually help someone feel less depressed or anxious on a daily basis. There are even a few colleges that invite animal shelters (or organize a trip to animal shelters) so their students can decompress by playing with puppies and kitties during finals week.

Here's the science behind it all: Cat purr vibrations are in the 20 Hz to 140 Hz range, which means their purring itself can have a therapeutic effect. Seriously. That amount of vibration can have a positive effect on those struggling with mental illness. In addition, it can help:
  1. Lower your stress levels
  2. Decrease dysponea symptoms
  3. Lower blood pressure
  4. Heal bones
  5. Reduce risk of heart attack
  6. Heal infection or swelling
  7. Heal muscles, tendons and ligaments

Cats In The Bathroom

So what is it with cats in the bathroom?  I can't have a moment to myself without one or more or all of my fur babies coming to visit!
They are either watching me on the toilet, rubbing between my legs, or sitting in the sink.
I guess maybe I shouldn't complain, at least my cats haven't done this yet...
Or this...

Frost

This is so true! Frost had my heart from the first time I saw him, begging to be let out of the cage so he could be held :-)

I've Been Tagged

There's no way my husband or anyone else who knows me wouldn't tag me in this picture! Just tonight, this was me...

On The Seventh Day?

Found this in a thrift store yesterday - very cute!  But if I'm not mistaken, cats were created with the other animals on the 6th day....

Rescue Cats

Our fur babies love when we tell the stories of how they adopted us. And each, in their own way, did do the adopting. It is so much fun interacting with them and their individual personalities, and to see how they show their gratitude for us providing them food, shelter, and unconditional love.

Who Is Your Favorite?

So who is your favorite cartoon cat? I love Hello Kitty, and I collect Hello Kitty, but I'd have to say my favorite is Scratchy, from "Itchy and Scratchy" on The Simpsons.
My husband loves Tigger, and has a Tigger collection to prove it, but his all-time favorite cat is Abraham DeLacey Giuseppe Casey Thomas O'Malley, O'Malley The Alley Cat (Aristocats).

Rizzoli

Rizzoli is my husband's cat, but actually, he is her human. She was a stray kitten who adopted him in January of 2013. It was evident right away that she was a detective, and so she was named after Jane Rizzoli, a fictional Boston Police detective featured in books by Tess Gerritsen.
She adopted me as well when we first started dating, and will soon celebrate her 4th anniversary in her human home :-)
